omg FF x DEUS EX  level 90 nano swarm summoning and giant robots :awe:

j/k. kinda looking forward to it because Deus Ex was just so completely and utterly awesome (even 2 wasn't THAT bad except for its extreme case of consoletitis). Square knows how to do cutscenes so it shouldn't be too bad. But they better not turn the relatively hard-scifi franchise into a FF-esque quasi-scifi game - I mean I like FF but Deus Ex has its own place. In fact I think DE2 already moved a bit away from that which was disappointing.

OMG devs still make PC exclusives??!! :p.

Most of the games that I play and plan to play are PC exclusives.

The next two games in the queue are NWN2' 2nd expansion and The Witcher.

Back to the topic...

It looks like the JRPG developer is only helping with the cut-scenes and not the game itself. But, I guess technically they are the developers of it since they own Eidos now.

We need the good Ion Storm back.

Ideally it is at least 80% as good as Deus Ex. This would also mean it is at least 600% better than Deux Ex Invisible War.

If my math is right does that mean Deux Ex is 750% better than Invisible War?

This seems very interesting. Oddly enough I missed the craze around the first game and only played the second which I actually quite enjoyed. So for me this game would only have to be better than the second to be fun since my expecations where never spoiled.

Oh, wonderful. Squaresoft for cutscenes. Just wonderful.

Mechanically, they're skilled, but they love nothing more then making cutscenes 10 times longer then they have any good reason to be. The amount of utterly pointless animation in a squaresoft cutscene makes a friggin' episode of dragon ball look straight-to-the-point.

Suppose we should just be grateful Kojima isn't involved.

I read a preview over a year ago which said the game featured a cover system and regenerating health. It turned my interest off.

Don't hold your breath for it being a PC exclusive. This might be a trick to create some hype:

Dugas further commented that "for us, console-isation isn't about dumbing down features,"

Ion Storm's original Deus Ex was "kind of slow."

"There weren't enough exciting, memorable moments [in the original]," Dugas explained." It was aimed more towards a simulation rather than a game experience."

Based on what I already know, and what they've said up to this point, I see no way Square's involvement can possibly be a good thing.

That's funny because I thought it was one of the most memorable games ever. Definitely in my top three.

Yeah, I don't know wtf he's talking about. Deus Ex is IMO the best game ever made. How is being a ridiculously badass self-upgrading cyborg a "simulation"? It had a great storyline and it was just kickass gameplay.

A memorable game, yes, but memorable moments?
Where there any moments where you went "WOW!"?
I can remember the whole game pretty much, I've played through many times, but there aren't really any memorable MOMENTS in the game.

You've got ten seconds to beat it before I add you to the list of NSF casualties

'Laputan machine', leaving the MJ12 prison to discover that it's in that inaccessible UNATCO floor, the conversation with Morpheus, the raid on Paul's apartment, Jock's helicopter exploding...

It lacked the flashier cinematic/scripted events of Half-Life and whatnot (the Unreal Engine is too limited to feature zombies pulling scientists through vents), but still had plenty of memorable moments.

I found the game memorable because there were many memorable moments: plot twists, interesting locations and concepts. The game was just awe inspiring.

Though I kind of get what the original quote is saying, that there weren't that many exciting action sequences, but that's not really what Deus Ex is about. It doesn't need that to be good. Deus Ex 2 saw a move away from the pace of the original and as a result it was A LOT less in depth. For example where were all the newspaper articles, data pads etc painting a detailed picture of the universe?

From the looks of it DE3 will move even farther away from DE. It may still be a good game, but will it still be DE?

A scene doesn't need to be full of action to be memorable.
Who remembers the giant thing in the pit in Half Life? Certainly memorable, certainly not an action sequence.
