This is mainly for Europeans to answer, but anyone can chip in.

Have recently got over the fact that DX2 will be coming out on February 27th in the UK, and in a few weeks in the US, i am, quite naturally pi$$ed off about it.
But, i sorta expected it, as the US seems to get all the releases before us. But what i want to know is;
There are loads of people in Europe that are very eagerly awating DX2, but asuming you buy the UK version in Feb when it comes out, can you patiently wait for it, or will you "aqquire" it by other means, and then buy it anyway?

-------------------------------------
Fortunatelly for me, i also have some great games on Pre-Order which should tide me over till it gets released. (1080* Avalanche for example.)

I live in the states so I don't have to wait, but I will because I am a cheap@ss when it comes to buying PC games.

No one likes show offs !!! lol.
The point isnt that the US gets a game before us Europeans (yet again), its that a game this big will have a staggered release worldwide.
Its just open to piracy. Who in the hell adviced Eidos on that choice!

I dont normally mind getting games a few weeks later than the US, or even months, but when a game is this big, and has been awaited this much, then it really pi$$es me off.

they have to regionalize it and can also take care of any major bugs that surface in the us version though. you wind up with a much cleaner game and a better experience.

Thats my original opinion, but lets be honest, If you were me, and awaited DX2 as much as me, would you give two sh1ts about a few bugs?
Becides, its a baced on Unreal Engine Technology, and ive never had any game problems if they were baced on the Unreal Engine.

I dont normally complain about delayed releases, as i said, but this time i am! lol.

I really want this game, sucks to have it so much later :(

Playing through Deus Ex again (runs like crap for some reason, worse than Unreal 2 does :Q), I might see if anyone will do an import copy this side of Christmas.

I guess I would be upset if Interplay released Fallout 3 in Europe a few months before the US. So I can understand you frustrations.

Why don't you have someone import the game from the states?

If I were in that situation, I would pirate it and then buy it once it was in the Euro equivelant of the $5-$10 bin.

I've already got my copy on pre-order, but from what I read on another forum, this Canadian webite will ship anywhere in the world for free. If I lived in Europe or anywhere else for that matter, this is what I'd do.

You realize that the delay is likely for European censors to review the game? There is little to no language difference, the only reason to stagger releases is governmental red tape.

European sensors has little to do with it. There have been loads of games that have had a simultanious worldwide release at the same time.

You are not qualified to make that assesment. There are major censorship issues in the EU. To achieve a worldwide simultanious release would delay the US game as the EU rating groups and governmental censors review the game. The ESRB rating in the US does not suffer the same red tape as it is not a governmental agency.

Dismiss the nanny nature of your government if you wish but if the Censorship wasn't an issue then Carmageddon wouldn't have shipped with green blood in the UK.

And you are!?...........

In the "main" part of Europe (Germany comes to mind), but the UK isnt that bad.

So why not delay it then? It`d mean less piracy for Eidos/Ion Storm

I might remind you that, that was a one off. Carmageddon2 and TDR didnt have censorship.

Because to delay to Feb would miss the Christmas buying in the US. Being the US market is many times larger than the UK market it would be fiscally insane the delay the whole game to ship worldwide and miss the christmas shopping in the US. Piracy losses wouldn't touch the sales losses from missing Christmas.

I might remind you that, that was a one off. Carmageddon2 and TDR didnt have censorship.

But they still had to be reviewed. It's the review that takes time.

Well I guess it's better to release it in one market before the Christmas season than not releasing it in that season for either market. One market is better than none I suppose.
