that's not ideal either. if it were just down to stats, it'd basically be a fantasy basketball team.

for anyone who knows about fantasy basketball, the All-Star starters would be: Andre Kirilenko, Shawn Marion, and Brad Miller.

whadday know...all three of them have been allstars :Q:Q:Q

vince hitting a jumper or putting his crotch in someones face while dunking would be the same two points in fantasy ball, but i have a feeling one would be much more fun to watch.

Look, I know you are a pistons fan, but stop being delusional. Unless you are a fanboi, in that case, continue your stupidity.

reading comprehension anyone?

you said, it should be based on stats. if the all-star game were directly correlated by stats, those guys would be starters (just like they're among the best fantasy guys)....THUS your suggestion is stupid. please continue.

btw, where exactly have i been delusional?

hans007 do some research before you make claims, mmkay?

here are the records through 45 games:

pistons played: 22 east, 23 west teams (39-6)
san antonio: 22 east, 23 west (35-10)
dallas: 17 east, 28 west (35-10)

the pistons have played MORE WEST COAST teams than eastern teams. nice try though. overrated, lol:

3 straight eastern conference finals
2 straight nba finals
1 nba championship (almost back to back....i know almost doesn't cut it, but they were damn close to doing something not many have done in nba history)
and this season, they've flirted with the best record in nba history

how's that overrated?

It's already been shown that they have the 6th easiest strength of schedule.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/stats/rpi?season=2006&sortColumn=sos

The percentage points are so close that strength of schedule shouldn't even matter.

you're delusional if you think that rasheed and rip are all stars. Man, are all detroit fans this stubborn and stupid?

Hans007, I think the state of Michigan has officially banned you from ever traveling there...

and yes, I created this account just to say that to you. I see that your Clips are 29-18 and on their way to the playoffs...

ok, i know that sounds bad, but i never said they werent a good team, i just said they were overrated as "far and away the best team" . they lost to dallas by 37 points, but dallas lost to the lakers by 30 something when kobe had 62, which does not mean the lakers are better than detroit.
Funny, you just pwned yourself. As did iamme, which you never even replied to:

they were voted all-stars by NBA coaches, genius. you're quite high on yourself if you think your opinion > NBA coaches' opinions.

Man, are all NBA fans this arrogant?

i agree about your comments about the all star game. arenas not making the team is just pathetic, especially when pieces of garbage like yao ming get the start.

Poor argument. All-Star starters are voted in by the fans as they are the ones that are the most popular. That's the very essence of the All-Star game.

Notwithstanding this obvious fact, you're comparing two completely different positions in two different conferences. You should be angered by the fact that players like Hamilton were voted in over Arenas.

For the sake of argument, who would you vote in to the All-Star game over Yao and why?

i'd probably vote camby over yao. they were both equally injured all year. or brad miller.
but starters really isnt a matter of discussion since its a fan thing, that is an entirely different subject to talk about.

the system is messed up...and yes if the coaches think that rasheed wallace and even rip need to be on the all star team, then my opinion > NBA coaches

others seem to think so too

I'm not convinced any team will beat Detroit in a 5 or 7 game series. That is what matters- we're not talkng single games here. Nobody has the experience or confidence these guys do- they are a historical team.

I already said that in my earlier post. The essence of the All-Star game is for the fans to vote in the starters. It's not necessarily about talent or winning games. It's purely a popularity thing.

In any case, Brad Miller isn't even on the same tier as Yao. I'd love to hear your reasoning on that one.

The only plausible argument you could make is for Pau Gasol to be voted in over Yao.

san anny has the bench to go the whole series which detroit unfortunately does not have...actually, thats the only 'weakness' and its still not as bad as san antonios ft shooting weakness. Also, thats the only thing that detroit has slipped at in the last few years...other than that joe dumars is the man. to bad billy king is incompetent 🙁

i stopped reading with this garbage:

Rasheed Wallace is a great talent, but when you face the Pistons, he's not the guy you have to fear.

ok?

you still havent said that if you think rasheed wallace is an allstar?

it's really ironic the OP talks about the disparity in conferences, when detroit has won MORE games against the west than they have against the East. hmmm.

20 - 5 vs the east, 21 - 3 vs the west. it must be that the west is sooo much better than the east.
