Strange that this happened shortly after this article:
http://www.npr.org/2011/07/05/137617828/dallas-experiments-where-section-8-recipients-may-live
In this country we could see some changes in a government housing program known as Section 8. Critics have complained that this subsidized rent program gives recipients enough money to live in poor, minority neighborhoods, but not enough money to live anywhere else. Now the Department of Housing and Urban Development is rethinking the way it calculates rent payments.

Hmm, government social welfare only provides enough money live in a poorer neighborhood rather than in a nice subdivision or middle class apartment? Clearly a violation of human rights.

When I was a Property Manager I never took Section 8. First of all it takes control of the property out of your hands and secondly the properties usually end up trashed.

That video of the rush for free money is a great indicator of why we, as a nation, are in the financial and debt crisis we find ourselves today.

Living off the tit of big government is easier than actually working.

Please don't say there are no jobs. This took place in Texas. Get a Texas newspaper and check the "Help Wanted" section. There are jobs for those that want to work.

The biggest problem with Section 8 is that there's no time limit on how long you can receive it. Helping people get back on their feet is one thing, but a lifelong housing subsidy is appalling.

Wasn't it Mr. Reagan that said something to the effect that the closest one can come to immorality is a temporary government program?

this is why we can't get rid of welfare, people have depended on it for so long they have no other way of life. they live for free, eat for free.....

What does this have to do with Detroit? Dallas prospers. Sure, there are leaches, but overall the city is a nice place to live. And if you don't think it is, you can carry as many guns as you want until you change your mind.

Some of the comments there are good. "If you can sprint to get free housing, you're able bodied enough to be digging ditches at your job instead."

I wonder if a lot of those people are Katrina victims? Didn't a lot of people from LA move to Houston and Dallas?
