Detonator and WIN XP PROinstall problems

I installed the WHQL 21.83 drivers fine throught the detonator's setup.exe. However, I can't install the newer 22.80's or 22.40's. I do a manual install, and It tell's me that the drivers don't pass the logo test or whatever. I install them anyway, and in the end it tells me there's an error. I restart, and the videocard is disabled in device manager. ???. I then "remove" the device from device manager and restart, then winXP successfully installs the previous 21.83 drivers. This sucks.

1. can you uninstall the drivers first?

if not, then:

2. change vid card to standard vga card.

3. reboot

4. go to device manager. tell it to change video card again.

5. tell it you want to choose it from a list

6. just click have disk and point it to the new drivers folder and it should install it fine.

Crap! I was used to using win2k so i thought the procedure was the same with my XP. Just ignore 1 and 2 then.
