Been using beta Directx 8 drivers for close to 5 months now and not a single problem related to them. Looks like Nvidia is just releasing/leaking crap again. I don't have a Nvidia based card either, this is one reason why. Of course you may be wary of my opinion, I bought a Viper2 after all, the other crap vidcard(excellent in Q3 and UT, but disappointing with anything else)from the other crap vidcard company.

Is any proggy actually using DX8 yet, I mean other than sound stuff.......wait till it does then the BSOD will avenge...lol

I installed DX8 and Nvidia 7.17 drivers. Q3 demo 1 dropped 20 frames from 95fps to 75fps at 1024x768 32bit. I was so disgusted by this I immediately uninstalled both and went back to DX7a and Nvidia 6.47 without even bothering to bench any other settings. I at least expected framerates to remain the same, so what's going on here?

ASUS CUSL2
P3 800 @ 960
128 meg PC133 Mosel Vitalic
ASUS 7700 GeForce2
etc.

I installed the DX8, and I noticed that it was DX8 in everything but D3D, which remained DX7. Anyone know if that is the way it's suppose to be?

hey i read dx8 real deal is out on another thread peeps, i'd grab it there,
if i wasnt banned from using the web on my pc cause my sys decided to kill three cable modems instead of getting fried from a surge thru the cable line
