I should've posted here...HELP PLEASE! I CAN'T STAND GOING BACK INTO 16color mode :(

I installed Detonator 12.40 (packaged from Elsa) over my Detonator 6.xx drivers, and now I'm afraid to restart because Win2k will revert back to 4 bit VGA. I've found this tidbit, which looks A LOT like my error at http://guru3d.com/forum/read_msg.php?tid=903&forumid=ubb2

Right now, device manager shows an exclaimation point next to my video card, and the following for device status:

<< The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
>>

Reinstalling has no effect, and throws a "Cannot find specified error" at the end. Any suggestions?

Try going into Control Panel->Add/Remove programs and remove "NVIDIA Windows 2000 display drivers". Then reboot. Then install 12.40's. That hopefully will fix you up.

I've already tried that and used nvclean to cleanup anything left behind and I still have problems. This is getting really annoying.

I also just noticed that the IRQ reported on the properties pane and the IRQ on the advanced dialog are different--11 and 9.
