update: I got it working by updating to SP3
I work at an engineering firm and we use a VPN to connect to a client's systems. We use the Cisco VPN client 3.5, and it installs the Deterministic Network Enhancer. The DNE must have a checkmark next to it for the VPN to connect. Otherwise, it times out on "Securing Communication Channel." We have the VPN client on several machines, and the DNE causes no adverse effects, except I encountered a problem yesterday. After installing and configuring the VPN client (which then activates the DNE), logging on to Windows (the machines are on a 2000 domain) takes an exceptionally long time for a power user. A domain admin can log in right away. If I then uncheck the DNE and logoff, then logon as a regular user, it logs in just fine. Only when the DNE is unchecked does the login work fine but also the VPN doesn't work. The strange is that there are similar machines using the VPN and DNE and it doesn't affect them. The machine with the problem is running W2K with SP2.
Any ideas?
Thanks
