Determining power requirement

Hey guys,

I'm putting together a bit of a Frankenstein build of misc parts laying around, and could use a hand trying to determine the minimum power supply I'll need for it. This is what I'm putting together:

- Intel i7-920 (Bloomfield, 55W)
- NVidia GTX 295 (listed specs: Max card power 289W, min system power 680W)
- EVGA E758-A1 motherboard (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16813188039)
- single 7200rmp Seagate HDD
- 3 sticks Corsair Dominator 1600MHz triple-channel RAM
- optical drive

Thanks!

GTX 295 requires 6-pin + 8-pin PCIe power connectors, so any unit from a good quality manufacturer with such connectors is the minimum, typically you will need 500W+, though some high quality sub-500W units are also adequate.

i7-920 has a TDP of 130W. If you're going to be overclocking it properly, it'd be good to add 50-100W to the PSU.

There's a nice deal on a Corsair TX650 V2 on memoryexpress: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX32587 $55 AR
