hello, I would like to start off saying i don't know that much about computers. A friend of mine told me about this forum saying its the best for getting help with PC problems. I never had any problems with my PC till i upgraded the ram from 8gb to G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GXM.
My PC setup is:
Windows 7 Home Premium
intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600k CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40GHz
64-Bit Operating System
Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3
Graphic card is two GeForce GTX 570.
I use 3 different tvs as my display monitors. Two are connected with HDMI cables the 3rd tv is connected with a DVI cable. Therein lies the problem. I right click select Personalization > Display > Change Display Settings then click Detect. When i click detect, PC goes to a blue screen. This happens when the DVI cable is connected and i try to detect it. This also happens when going through the NVIDIA Control Panel to detect the DVI connected monitor. Aslo if i leave the DVI cable plugged in after resting my pc after blue screen i get no display at all. I have to shut down my PC disconnect the DVI cable to get a picture again. If the DVI cable is not connect and i hit detect nothing happens no blue screen. Everything worked fine till i added the new ram. I have no problems at all till i connect the DVI cable and hit detect. I also updated drivers, still same problem. i even put the old ram back in with the old drivers and still same problem. After putting the new ram in stuff on my PC was reset such as game setting Xpadder program, ISBoxer program, LootAlert. Could this new ram have changed a setting on my pc to cause blue screen or could i had broke something putting the new ram in? It was a very tight fit pushing it in....
thats what she said.
