The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR4. This is happening repeatedly when I use my external USB drive for backups. IT is a Seagate ST9500420AS 500GB notebook drive inside Vantec NexStar 3 2.5” SATA to USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure - See more at: http://blog.testfreaks.com/review/e...al-hard-drive-enclosure/#sthash.FyaBzmcY.dpuf
I am using a 3.0 cable from the enclosure to the Sager in my signature Smart DATA: note all of these have a green indicator before them in HWINFO64

Not Seagate's best drive from reviews I've read.
Cons: Mysterious I/O Errors and freeze ups
Cons: Frequent read/write errors and BSOD just 4 months after the warranty
Cons: Drive failed in 15 months. Unrecoverable read errors. Can't even get it to work long enough to back up important data.
Cons: The drive worked great for a few months, then failed out of nowhere.
Cons: It failed on my Sony Vaio after 1 year 2 months of service.

Thanks Burpo ... I have a plan, I will remove the Seagate HDD from the enclosure +swap the drive into my ASUS (which has 2 drive bays). Then I will do some extensive testing to rule out an issue with the drive enclosure.
Agreed this drive is not on anyone's recommended list!
