"Detect Optimal Frequencies" (Coolbits2) - NO EFFECT?

Greetings from Planet 10. I've got a new XFX GeForce 6800GS (AGP) card; running Nvidia drivers 81.98. Using Coolbits 2. Hitting the "Detect Optimal Frequencies" has no effect on clock settings (the only result is a resetting of my monitor's refresh rate from 85 down to 60). On the other hand, I am able to substantially increase both core and memory clock settings, if I do it manually.

The convention I have followed in the past is to allow the robot to run at what it determines are "optimal" settings, but in this case there is no apparent auto detection happening. This is the first time I've observed this kind of behavior. Anyone else seen this? Ideas?

Thank you and good morning,

CS
