Details on eyefinity for AMD 8XXX series?

So I saw some snippets of the leaks for the next AMD cards.

There was something about support for full custom resolutions in Eyefinity? Do you think that would be an improvement over the 7XXX series?

More specifically, do you think eyefinity in 8XXX AMD cards would let you mix and match different aspect-ratio displays, and provide an undistorted view on each display that forms the whole?

currently, if you mix, say 16:9 and 4:3, eyefinity will force you to use the same aspect on all displays, so one or the other will be distorted. Will 8XXX fix that?

If you saw the snippets, how did you miss the part that they were oem only and nothing more than rebadged 7k series parts?

I saw the rebadging article too, but the OP could potentially be referring to some other 'rumours' article about Sea Islands

The thing I saw was another thread here in Anandtech:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2294414

Someone linked to AMD's website and copy/pasted info from the detailed PDF, so I think I read that and maybe I interpreted that differently:
 AMD Eyefinity multi-display technology3
o Up to 6 displays supported with DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream Transport
o Independent resolutions, refresh rates, color controls, and video overlays
o Display grouping
 Combine multiple displays to behave like a single large display

Here's a source PDF from AMD for the 8970:

I'm really crossing my fingers and hoping that eyefinity will get some sort of improvement, if nothing more than a way to help sell the 8XXX series as some distinguishing factor that is enabled by software driver changes to support mixed aspect ratio and not needing any new hardware necessarily, that's my hope. I just wish AMD would publicize/push eyefinity more than they do now, it's a real distinction/differentiator compared to NVidia, so why not push it more?

Eyefinity 2 is supposed to support different resolutions in Eyefinity. I think it's just something that they haven't been able to implement yet. For example, PLP 1200*1600/2560*1600/1200*1600. So, once they get this feature enabled it should work on the 7000 cards as well.

I'm waiting for them to implement this so bad. Whoever does it first will get my money.

Feels so bad to have PLP setup and no official support for it.
