Detailing a car?

Because when you simply wash your car you do not pay attention to every single detail. While when detailing your car you do. Thus, you use extra tools (toothbrush, bug remover...) and typically when detailing you are not only focusing on the exterior but the interior as well.

Clay bars, polish, wax, seal, cleaning door jambs, cleaning weather stripping, shampooing carpets/upholstery, conditioning leather, conditioning vinyl......the list goes on. Course, maybe you do all these things everytime you wash your car so you don't consider it as being "different"😛

Yup, it takes more than a wash! Results

Having new paint helps to😉 I challenge you to get those results out of my paint😉

Where do you live?

SoCal.

If you're ever in the Sacramento area, I'll take that challenge! I've gotten a silver 89 Camry (my old car) to gleam!

We can just RUB IT OUT!

Detailing also involves a good polish, depending on how bad the paint is(abrasive wise).
I have 5 steps to detailing a car.1- a good wash, from the top down, tires last. 2-clay bar entire car if needed.3-polish entire car, remove polish.4-use a good glaze. 5-wax car. Steps 3 thru 5 are done with a Porter-Cable random orbital.Takes about 5 or 6 hours and some beer!!!! Our BLACK Highlander is constantly getting remarks on how nice it looks and how shiny it stays. If this is done 3 or 4 times a year the car is also easier to keep clean in between too.

What's a clay bar?

Literally, a bar of clay. Use it with water (IIRC) and what it will do is remove contaminants from the surface of the paint. It literally pulls the stuff out of the paint/clear coat. After you finish your car will feel as smooth as glass.

Interesting, I've never seen anyone use a clay bar. I'll check it out this weekend 😀

A clay bar can also be used with a liquid detailer, such as Griots Garage Speed Shine or Meguiars. Spray on the liquid and then run the clay bar in a vertical motion then wipe everything down and repeat.
