Det 6.49 <- My Asus 6800 cannot recover from "standby" mode

I just did a clean install of win98se... before the clean install, i was using det6.49 with my 6800 pure...and it could not recover from standby mode...so while i was still using standard vga mode, i tried going into standby...and came out of it!! then installed 6.49...now it won't recover again...any ideas?
 
do u got coolbits enabled? if u do then turn it off...its reapplying the core/mem settings on top of your current settings, effectively doubling the clocks and causing ur card to freeze..i had the same problem with 6.49 and 6.50 dets...i turned off the option to apply my own core/mem clocks and its all fine now
