destiny VA EA all access for Xbox

Debating about buying the destiny at brand smart for 30. Or just buying EA access for a year. I am getting halo in November and the crazy reviews on destiny have me on the fence about it do the know if I want to spend crazy hours trying to get to level 20.

Only bad thing about EA is that they are sports focused. I don't play sports game. The only game that might be good is battlefield 4. Hopefully they release better games in the future.

What are you guys thoughts? Anyone has EA access?

but you should probably buy what you think you will enjoy more, not what strangers on the internet will enjoy more.

Arguably you are right but I trust guys on the internet much more than myself with video games. I am not a huge gamer. Maybe there is a huge gimmick to EA access...

Probably get Destiny to try out and if anything sell it on craigslist or ebay.

Destiny hooked me something bad, but it seems to be kind of polarizing as well. Of course I recommend it, but only you know if you're the kind of gamer who would like it as much as I do.

Depends on whether or not you're more single player, decent story oriented, or if you mainly want to play with your friends and a meh story doesn't bother you much.

Do you like ARPGs and Halo? If you don't enjoy the primary aspects of Diablo type games, Destiny isn't worth getting at full price IMO. The story and single player parts just aren't worth $60. However, if (like myself) you enjoy things like farming for loot and doing raid type of activities, once you hit 20 the game opens up a lot.

Single player and multiplayer PVP, Destiny is weaker than Halo was (if you included an XB connect type service for Halo multiplayer). The additional farming mechanics and RPG elements really add to the overall game, if you're into that sort of thing.

EA Access, on the other hand is a great deal if you are going to buy 5 EA games a year. You get 10% discount, so 5 times the $6 you'll save for each game equals the price. That is if you don't take into account any of the vault access.

I don't care much for Destiny myself, but I would take it over EA Access. Rivals got bad reviews, the sports games are outdated, Battlefield is still broken, Peggle is $12 to keep digitally, and PvZ is supposedly cool, but it's also probably a bit dated (in terms of multiplayer activity).

I'd aim for the game with longevity behind it myself, while waiting on a game you really want to play with EA Access.

I have EA access and destiny. I played the crap out of Fifa 14 for a while, downloaded everything else and tried it. Peggle is alright, I have BF4 on PC so no reason to have it also on console, Need for Speed is bad IMO, and Madden isn't for me. The full game trial is nice but honestly...until the vault is bigger it's just not that worth it. For me it was because I traded fifa in for $35 and basically got it for $30 with EA access.

I love Destiny but that's because I'm always finding something interesting to do in public events, farming, new gear, strikes, strikes and missions with variables like Juggler (your equipped weapon doesn't get ammo drops) and other stuff that makes the game fun every time. However, you have to be willing to repeat activities to get gear and weapons. If not, you won't like it. The PVP I tried in beta and didn't like. I'm not much of a PVP player though anyway. It will be constantly updated over time though so there's that.

Tons more content, much better story with good voice acting not phoned in "wizards from the moon", great shooty and looty fun.

I hated borderlands. Thought it was a waste of money and I bought it on sale for $10 or something.

I enjoyed Borderlands. I like Destiny for a lot of the same reasons I like Borderlands so much as well, so I think the comparison isn't entirely off. Destiny feels like a much deeper game than Borderlands ever did to me though, and Borderlands itself was deeper than one would think at first glance. That's another game with very tight and satisfying shooting mechanics and not much story. I think I put over 150 hours each in Borderlands 1 and 2.

I had a few problems with Borderlands. First it's cel shaded, I generally hate that in games. Second it felt like I was spending 20 minutes checking weapons for stats and only 5 minutes shooting anything. Third I didn't find the humor all that funny, claptrap is just annoying. *shrug*

What I hated about Borderlands the most (and I didn't play 2, so this might have changed in that one) was the moronic MMO type quests of "go kill 15 boards and get back to me!" BS. Almost every mission in Destiny is instanced and isn't a "go kill x number of y", except some of the patrol missions, and those are easily avoidable if you please. Every story has you going through a "dungeon" type area and defeating a boss type monster, letting you kill or run your way through.

I have Destiny and EA Access, and I don't find a lot of value in EA Access unless you're interested in dated games- also playing BF4 through EA Access still requires you to have XBL gold to play online. But FIFA 14 is probably the only game in the vault worth bothering with as Madden 25 is bad and NFS Rivals is terrible- I'm only hoping for NBA Live 14 to hit the vault although I already have NBA 2K14 on my P|S4.

I play Destiny once in a while, I'm certainly not rushing to level 20+, but I do enjoy the game.

I never thought Borderlands was funny at all. I knew it was trying to be, but I don't think I've ever seen a game actually pull humor off for real. What I thought was great about Borderlands was the shooting mechanics and the constant hunt for loot. I can't tell you how many times I killed Crawmerax and other bosses looking for legendary and pearlescent drops. If you can make a shooter that "feels" right to play and add in loot and character advancement, I'm in 100% of the time.

Making the moment to moment gameplay satisfying and fun is the key to making a game with grinding elements bearable. Borderlands had that, and so does Destiny. One difference is that Borderlands practically buried you under mountains of mediocre loot with the occasional good drop, while Destiny is a lot more sparing with it's drops all around. I'm not sure which I like better. The constant loot dropping of Borderlands can burn out your reward centers quickly, and it's awfully exciting to see that purple engram hit the ground in Destiny when you know that you might not see another for a few days, yet going that few days without getting anything good can leave you feeling a little despondent too.

I can say with no problem that I'm enjoying Destiny every bit as much as I enjoyed Borderlands though.
