The show is basically about this group of people that investigate stories of the unexplained around the world. Tonight's episode they investigated reports of an Iguanadon and a mermaid in Papua New Guinea.

I enjoyed the show, but was thinking why I even bothered. If they found anything, it would have been major news (I would think) so I would have heard about it. So you basically already know that they aren't going to find anything so there's no point in watching, right?

The witnesses on the show are pretty flaky. This one guy says he buried a dead mermaid at this one spot so they go try to dig up the body. He says its one meter under ground. they dig way past a meter and find nothing but sand and tree roots.

and these shows always seem to come up with some kind of evidence, like trees shaking or shadows or something, but never anything substantial. and they do a good job of making it suspenseful. for example, while looking for the mermaid they were using different kinds of equipment - one of those things that fisherman use to see where fish are and some kind of sound recording device. while the other guys were in the water, the people in the boat are like "omg! what is that? see this here? something is heading right towards them!" or "whoa! listen to this! did you hear that? what is that?"

and yet the guys in the water with the cameras never see or hear anything.
