I had a iomagic that I thought was giving me problems so I took advantage of one of the many Cendyne/Lite On deals. I popped it in and Win2k already recognized it as a Lite On

Then I tried burning a cd. It will simulate fine, and burn fine... But theres nothing on the cd!! Totally empty! I flashed the firmware to the latest version and still no luck.

A. I am an idiot.
B. My computer sux
C. A & B
D. I have an idea! :D

thanks for any help.

I had a problem like this with my 24x liteon burner, it turned out that the primary slave hard disk was somehow conflicting with the writer. When i took the primary slave disk out the cd writer accessed fine(had it on secondary master), read the disk that i burned that i couldn't read before just fine. You might have a similar probelm. I was told that a mobo bios fix was in the works but as to this day it hasn't materialised.

It might help.

Furor: I quick check using lite-on's smartburn:

This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Cyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 24s 01f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = Taiyoyuden DX-dye
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 16X

These are Fujis so I would hope they are good. I think I'll dig around and see if I can find a different brand to try.

skull: I might try that when I'm a little more desperate. I have my cdrw on secondary slave (where I've had all my cdrw's since the dawn of time).

thanks for the ideas though.

I do not think that you are selecting the drive prior to the burn process, it is probably burning to a phantom drive. Be sure and select the drive you are burning to.

I reinstalled Nero and now I am able to select my burner and it works fine. But I'm having issues with Fireburner. With all bin/cues I get this error:

Thread1: Setting Write Parameters
Thread1: Write parameters set
Thread1: Reading Disc Info
Thread1: Reading Next Track Info
Thread1: Start LBA is -150
Thread1: Sending Cue Sheet
Thread1: Error sending cue sheet
Thread1: Sense Error: ILLEGAL_REQUEST (INVALID FIELD IN PARAMETER LIST) (0x05 0x26 0x00)

Yuk...

hmmm, cdrwin will burn it without errors but I cant read the cd. Windows explorer says the drive is not accessible. But in Nero I can use the medium-info menu option and it can see the track and size of the tracks. :|
