I have the Gamer 5.1 card and am unable to get the dos drivers to
unpack/load from the installation disc. They are on the install disc as cab files but will not copy to a directory with any of the install procedures on the disc.

Can someone send me the drivers, or explain how to install the *&%! drivers as I am pulling my hair out.

I am setting up a dual boot system with WinMe and Dos 6.21.

They are not on the Creative site. How do you manually extract the cab files?

Thanks,

The dos drivers are emulation I dont think you can get that card to work in pure dos
it has to have win9x or nt for them to even load
unless someone has a hack
there are no real dos drivers for the live cards

No, the instruction book clearly refers to the drivers. Just can't unpack them.

I'm not sure about what the newest revisions of the software on the SB Live cds include but here's the deal with the software that my SB Live Value(which I bought a loooooong time ago) came with:

When you install the software(might have been Liveware 1 or 2) from the CD, you should have the option before it starts copying files, to choose whether or not to install DOS support. If you do check that box, it will install the DOS drivers to some folder under "creative" in "program files". There are also some modifications to the config.sys and autoexec.bat which you need to make sure are loaded/execute. The modifications are specific to the resources the card is using. (So, assuming you manage to install the drivers, copy them from that folder, and write down the config.sys/autoexec modifications, you have to make sure the sb live itself stays in the same slot in order for the drivers to work in DOS)

You need both HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE in CONFIG.SYS for the SB DOS Emulation to work. These will be added by the Creative LiveWare Installation.

Your problem is that you are running Windows ME. Under Win95 or Win98(SE) where DOS support still exists, the LiveWare installation program gives you the option of installing the DOS support drivers. Since WinME's DOS support has been "excised", LiveWare's installation program does not give you the option to install the DOS drivers.

Well Vipero has Dos 6.21, so there shouldn't be any problem loading HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE from C:\DOS...
If really necessary I could install old liveware on my system and grab the drivers.
It's still the i/o range and stuff that is specific to what pci slot the card is in and what resources it is using that would be a problem...
