DESPERATE help with IPX/SPX

OK, so I've been tinkering hardcore with this for about 2 weeks now. I've got a p166 and a p2-300 on a Linksys hub. The 166 has a Linksys nic and the 300 has a SMC nic. Now the tricky part-
My main reason I want to hook these over IPX/SPX is so I can try out some LAN games. I've got Quake to play TCP/IP over this. Unfortunatly, this is the only game I have that supports playing lan over this protocol. (I think) So, I know it's not a hardware problem, because I can share files, play quake, ect... I've read countless FAQs and HOW-TOs and forum helps. I've tryed so many different ways. UGH! I just can't get IPX/SPX to go. Here's the current attempt: the frame type is set to 802.3, the network addy is set to 10, NetBIOS is enabled, I DON'T have it set as default protocol, and when I try to run quake, I get "Winsocket IPX Bind failed" on the 166 and "... unable to open control socket" on the 300. Oh, and I also have NetBEUI going on them both. I also have unique comp. names in Identification, and they are both in the same workgroup. any suggestions? someone out there must know what I'm doing wrong. Please help me!
