desktop wireless PCI cards

i just got back from school today and my parents have been complaining about the family computer's slow internet aka my mom's computer because no one else uses it. anyway we havent pulled any cables upstairs and the only outlet is in my room forcing us to put a wireless card on the fam computer for the time being. It's never had great signal strength, Windows usually rates it at low or very low; however, my little bro has the laptop in his room which is down the hall from the fam computer and he gets good signal strength and is further away. anyway is was wondering if anyone could provide some info. The card is a WMP54G
Wireless-G PCI Adapter by Linksys.

to be completely honest I am a person who dreads linksys products. However I believe that a cheaper solution is the Netgear Wg111 usb adapter. I am about 30 / 40ft away from my router and I still have excellent speed. In addition most Netgear products such as the one mentioned above do not overheat, unlike many linksys items. If you want to read more about particular wireless cards and other itmes check out cnet.com It is an extremely good source of information and I strongly recommend it to you. Dont go through the hassle of using a internal PCI adapter...get yourself a usb adapter
