Good morning! I was looking into a desktop based surge protection device (the ones that go under the monitor and have switches to turn on devices). Some family members are getting up in their years and it would be easier to have the switches on the desktop instead of getting on the floor to turn on the surge strip.
I've been looking at the APC PowerManager which has 5 switched outlets (and one always on). Has anyone used this unit and what is your opinion of others like it? I see companies like Belkin and Curtis make comparable products but we're a pretty die hard APC family here.
The only disadvantage I see is there isn't a good way to plug in those big wall warts (transformer plugs). So what I was thinking of doing was running a power strip off one of the switched outlets to plug them into.
Any tips, hints, or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
