Ok im using windows 2000 and all of a sudden my desktop shortcuts that i have to games have stopped working tried re-installing software but to no avail the 2 games are madden 2k2 and global ops both desktop shorcuts refuse to work. even if i go into the programs folder they wont work the start menu shortcuts work but not desktop very strange. Anyone have any ideas.

Yes i can copy the shortcuts from start programs but this is not the point because i need a shorcut from the application .exe so that i can run in a window.

Delete the file ShellIconCache in your Windows directory, and restart
(the file is hidden, so you'll have to show hidden files to find it)

Ok i have made sure (system files) and Hidden files are being shown but the file/folder u mention does not exist therefore i still have the problem. I am using windows 2000

You can check and edit what files are associated with what apps by going to:

Windows Explorer \ Tools \ Folder Options \ File Types
