Hey guys and gals, I got a bit of a problem.

I don't really know much about networking, so I apologize if any of this seems rather noobish or if this is in the wrong section.

I reformatted the hard drives on my main PC today and reinstalled Windows XP (no particular reason, it'd just been a while since I had last done so). Everything was going well until, after installing an internet security suite for the first time since the reinstall, I was prompted to restart. That was completely normal, so I did so. Upon restarting, however, I found that I had no access to the internet. I could connect to the router and get an IP address and everything, but every time I tried loading a web page, I'd get a blank screen (not a 404 error). This seemed like a simple enough problem; obviously the firewall was preventing me from accessing my network. Nope. That's not it. I tried disabling the firewall and even uninstalled the security suite to no avail.

I know the router works, because I'm posting from my laptop at this very moment. What could my problem be? As far as I know, I haven't done anything else to fiddle with with the router or the connection at all.

Going to any website will give you a blank page? Are you using Internet Explorer? Try going into Tools -> Options -> Connections -> LAN settings, and then check off automatically detect settings. Close down IE then restart it again.

Update: I guess the problem was the wireless driver. I uninstalled and reinstalled that and I've been successfully browsing since -- even after reinstalling the security suite and a system restart -- thanks for the help, everyone.
