Desktop on top of APC UPS a bad idea?

I had to move my PC from the top of my desk to the floor to make space for other things recently. Since my cables weren't long enough to place the PC beside my desk I was forced to set it on top of my APC 1400 UPS under my desk.

Is having that set up going to create a heat problem for either the UPS or the PC? It's stable sitting on top of the UPS, so heat is really my only concern.

It might not hurt anything, provided that no vents are blocked and the UPS case doesn't flex from the weight of the PC.

However, it would probably be a better idea to just get a set of cable extenders and move the desktop someplace more convenient.

I guess it relates to form factor. My UPS and computer are under the desk. But, both are in a vertical format. The computer is on the left of my legs and the UPS on the right. They are 3.5 feet apart, and have been that way for several years. No problems at all with heat, etc.

I would go with Steltek's "better idea" if I had horizontal boxes.

As long as it is stable and you're not blocking any vents (seems unlikely), then I don't see why not. There would theoretically be some heat conduction through the metal-to-metal contact, but impact of that will be minimal.
