My Asus t7200 based laptop died due to a motherboard issue. Now I have a perfectly functional t7200 and 2 gb of ddr2 memory (along with some other bits) that need a home. I thought these would be fun to stick in a media pc, but I need a desktop motherboard or SFF. Does anybody know of a good socket m motherboard or sff?

I found a few socket p motherboards, but I'm not sure if they would be backwards compatible??

Thanks.

I would say Intel sockets are not backwards compatible. You'd need to find a Socket M board (probably 945 or 965 mobile chipsets).

I'm not sure how successful you'll be in finding a compatible board. Maybe part out the system and pocket the cash or something.

sell on ebay, use money to buy whatever you need.

That was the original plan, but it doesn't look like it's worth much based on what's currently for sale on ebay. For anyone else interested, socket P boards definitely are not compatible with socket m chips.

Just sell it part by part.
