sorry, can't spell ridicoulously.....

anyways, I recently brought a desktop secondhand from a friend who is going to military. It is HP media center pc 873n.

It came with:
xp media center OS
pentium 4 2.53 ghz
512mb of ram.

now, it seems really slow for this machine. loading applications, it seems to lag a a bit, and even booting up and trying to sign in to msn. Just in general, it seems to lag very much, compared to my 1.4 ghz laptop, or other 1.0 ghz desktop.

When I brought this home, I had to reformat everything...now is there any settings that I need to check on?? I think it is suppose to move a bit faster.

Ridiculous!

Maybe you need to defragment your hard disk. I find thats normally the case after installing Windows and many apps.

You may want to also try and take off the HP badge... ;)
Things run faster!

I thought of that too.

I Googled Weatherbug, and found a bunch of sites where the publisher claims that it's not spyware. Decide for yourself. It still ain't going on my PC.

That's a lot I think.

Your main problem is that you didn't install the following:

-Chipset drivers
-Video card drivers -- No, the Windows Update drivers don't count. They always lag for me.

Weatherbug is bad, isn't it?
