Desktop Harddisk on Notebook. Possible?

Is it possible to use Desktop harddisk on notebook? I am not talking about external case harddisk that connect through the parrelel or USB port. I want to connect it to the main HD. So meaning we have to convert the head/plug.

Anyone? thanks

There is no way that I know. Since the plug is not the same and desktop hdd's won't fit. The really only way is to use a ext. type case.

Here's a site I found when doing research on hacking the Virgin Webplayer - linky. I looked, but didn't see the 40-44 pin adaptor you'd be looking for, but you may have better luck.

The 3.5" desktop drive wouldn't fit in the laptop case anyway. If you're looking for a second HD for the laptop, something like this from Compgeeks might be better for you. Otherwise, they have some internal drives for $21-$37.

Well, i am not going to fit the harddisk in the laptop. I am going to use it externally.

The main reasons i am doing this is to make use of my laptop to convert it to a car mp3 player. You see.. my laptop screen is broken. it has crack but workable. And the harddisk has fail. That's why I am considering this, so i do not have to take the time to make a desktop mp3 player in my car. My laptop is the best for this as its small enough to put it anywhere.

Thanks.

ps: anyway to convert the desktop IDE plug to connect to a laptop IDE inlet?
