Desktop color and font color the same..help !!!

If this question produces laughs...go ahead...it's probably deserved. At any rate, I've managed to make my desktop background (black), and my font color the same, i.e., can't read anything when I go to the Control Panel. Even tried a reinstall (Win XP Pro), and can't even see where to click to agree to the Agreement Terms, hence no install. any ideas ?

Have you tried to re-start in Safe mode? Hold down f8 while booting. See if you can change your colors.
