I have a Deskjet 970Cse and I am running windows 2000. Can someone tell me how to get rid of the stupid printer icon on the task bar. I emailed HP and they told me I would have to edit the registry to get rid of it and they would not tell me through email that I had to call them and they would explain it over the phone for a fee. I don't want another icon on the task bar and it flashes yellow telling that I am getting low on ink.
 
I have a 970Cse on WinXP. ( Used to run on Win2K ) I think you must be using the "Home User" driver set that includes all the "idiot lights", and extra junk,etc. Try un-installing the drivers and utils and re-installing using the "Corporate" driver set. None of that crap will be there.
