Hey I was wondering, is there a real big differencw between these to sets of things?

Nvidea 6800 GT or ULTRA

AMD 64 3400 or 3800


Please tell me if you think there wouod be a change of performance.

Well, aside from the fact that ultras are next to impossible to find, the GTs can usually very easily overclock to ultra speeds, though I'm not sure if the ultras have any advantages other than clockspeed.

3800 runs only on the 939 socket.

Is there a big difference in PERFORMANCE between the 3400 and the 3800 ?

erm im not sure.....

IIRC the 3400 can be 2.2ghz with 1mb cache or 2.4ghz with 512kb cache......i think the 3800 may be 2.4ghz with 512kb cache but beacuse its on socket 939 it has dual channel memory....but thats only worth 10-15% performance increase

I'll have to do some research and find out for sure, but I thought I had heard Dual Channel in 939 gave at most a 5% boost, so wasn't worth the extra cost. Time to run some searches.
