Why would a person of his status, with loads of friends and an active social life be seeking friends on Asiafriendfinder.com?

I would assume either to find asian friends or because he signed up a while ago before he had all these friends.

Perfectly legit question... I asked him the same thing. He bores easily... and I think sometimes, it amuses him to do some of the things he does and watch for my reaction. He used to call me at work with people he was in the studio with... "Hey, Ivy. I'm here with Fred Durst... have you ever heard of that band Limp Bizkit? Fred, say hi to Ivy."

"Hey Ivy."

a friend from college. He was an absurdly articulate kid from new-orleans, his parents were wealthy, so he dropped about a grand a month on alcohol. His liver was indestructable. Among other things, he took a lot of anti-depressents and was impotent. Very nice, charismatic guy, but his existence was completely bizarre (think fear and loathing).

"No point telling him about the bats; the poor bastard would find out soon enough."

Yeah, I know what you mean. You can make a similar comparison about someone with schizophrenia. Trev plays Eternal Darkness and can't tell the weird noises and whatnot are coming from the game and not him.

So does your friend talk like Johnny Depp? (Or is he more like Hunter S. Thompson, i.e. he goes on Conan, points at his shoes and says "you like these shoes? I made them," at which point Conan points out "no you didn't, those are Nikes!")

more depp. his enunciation is a weird hybrid of clearly pronounced words with strange grunts and muttered exclamations.

i had a friend who was a paranoid schizophrenic.
she seemed normal at first, until she started telling you about how her family,
teachers, friends, and doctors were all working against her in a conspiracy.

me pointing out the evidence that they weren't working against her
was useless - it just meant that i was in on it, too.

I used to know a bunch of people in the Chicago Tattoo\Piercing Scene, and a bunch in the punk scene.

Lots of straights would think they were strange.

Personally I think the wierdest is a friend of mine from High School, after school went progressively more schizophrenic and pretty much lost touch with reality. His parents "care" for him, which means keeping him from hurting himself or others, and I still visit occasionally. It's amazing to me to delve into his perceptions of reality. He makes these brilliant, spiritually astute observations, or statements but the next moment will follow it up with something like "Don't let your daughters wear purple or evil will penetrate thier aural shields"

I mourn for the friend I lost.

Schizophrenia is a really hard thing to deal with. djheater, I'm guessing your friend is non-responsive to the meds or has reactions to them, right? It sucks that he's like that, but at least he knows you're there. There's always a bright side to things, however faint it may be.

As for the conspiracy theories I've learned it's best to smile and nod and move on. Challenging a schizophrenic's notions like that is a task that takes months, if not years, and is usually best left to a professional shrink. For the most part that is. It took me a bit to convince Trevor that despite what he saw on his IM window I had not told him I lived in Canada. (Apparantly you can hallucinate MSN text too)

And since you brought up the piercing bit heater I'll share another bit of info about Trev: he has at least 38 piercings, at least 11 of which are "down there", as it were. Pretty wild.

Every drug they've given him so far has the side effect of making him violently angry. The doctors have no idea why.

Even Thorazine?! I mean that stuff'll knock out anyone. The only side effect I've heard of with it is called Tardive Dyskenisia, which means you slowly get a sort of crack addict twitch that's permanent.

First of all... THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!! :D

My weirdest/most eccentric friend would have to be JC... I met him online over a year ago (through asiafriendfinder.com), and we chatted back and forth about whatever came to mind. When I moved out to Cali, he asked if he could take me out to a nice seafood restaurant and comedy club... we had a fabulous time, and he's one of the funniest, intellligent, and creative people I know. Everyone seemed to know who he was, even though I hadn't a clue... I guess he's in a band, and they were/are pretty hot in Japan/Europe for some time. He gave me a tour of his castle afterwards, showed me his tour outfits/fur coats/leather pants/stiletto boot-heels, and invited me to some trippy parties ($35,000 masquerade balls w/stilt-walkers/fire-dancers/etc.). It's always kind of surreal spending time with him, but he really is an incredibly kind, friendly, down-to-earth guy. Check out his music/CD if you have the chance, I like tracks 1 and 2 of the newest one.

He has BBQ's at his castle every Sunday, and I can't make it to the one this weekend but I'm gonna try and go next weekend... maybe someday he'll let us have an ATOT meet there. :)

Random pics.

I have a question: What the heck is this "guy" doing with stiletto boot-heels? Was he is some rock hair band from the late 80s?

It would have to be my friend Brian.
Fscking genius that guy is, got into med school at Davis, but I'm positive that had he not flaked off so much in classes he'd easily have made it into any med school in the country.

He's adept at theater, construction, audio, electronics, fencing (swords), guns, music (guitar, piano, vocals, turntablism), among other things. He's also a bigtime pharmaceuticals dealer. His family is very wealthy, but he makes a lot of his own as well. He'll go out on the biggest impulse buying sprees I've seen. One day it'll be a TV. The next, turntables. One week he bought four pairs of $150+ headphones plus a custom amp.

Add to this he's one eccentric motherfscker. He'll wear sunglasses all the time, including while driving at 2AM. He drives at least 30mph over the speed limit at any given time, and I can count how many near-death experiences I've had in his car, which until recently was a Turbo New Beetle. He can have limitless tact and propriety in public when necessary, but more often than not it feels like I'm out in public with a six year old with ADD. He'll mess with store demos, say really odd things very loudly, and generally act, well, crazy.

All in all he's a good friend and fun to be around. A good change of pace from normality I guess.

Not really a true friend, but knew this kid in H.S. whose dad had like 4x gas stations all over the nation and of course the kid didnt have anything to worry about his future, so he began writing books in 9th grade. After writing 3 books in 5 years, he burned them all  when ppl ask him about it, he just says "it was a lot of fun writing them, and a lot of fun burning them."
