I built it a year ago (March 16th if I remember correctly) and it ate 90% of my savings.

its a nice all around computer.

Duron 750 (unlocked but not yet overclocked), 256 PC133, Radeon64 ViVo Retail (have a cable box and VCR plugged in, so I can watch and record TV and VHS and record VHS), 40gtb maxtor, SBlive, 19" KDS and 70W Altec Lansing ACS56s. Also, XP is on it, but I will switch back to 2k next time I format.

I love it.

Next comp will be a clawhammer with a GF4 or Radeon3 and 1gb ram, about 2 years from now.

I bought my primary computer from the for sale/trade forum. It's a home-built machine with an overclocked Celeron II on a 440BX motherboard. I've since added/replaced 2 optical drives, 2 hard drives, video card, sound card and memory.

I built it and none of the rest is any of your business.

Nothing personal, I'm just a very private person.

Pardon me while I put my aluminum foil hat on in order to keep the voices out.

you should add "it belongs to my parents" categories, cause I know there's people on here who would fall into that.

I bought and built mine myself, it's a athlon XP 1600+ w/ radeon card, 3 hds, DVd drive, memory, stuff....

Who builit it? My Uncle bought the original for Christmas 1998, I first switched out the vid card(intel basic AGP to VooDoo 3) then got a burner, then added more memory, then I got a DVD drive, added some PCI cards, then got a new monitor (15" to 19") then got a new HD (6GB to 30GB), then got a new vid card (VooDoo 3 to GeForce 256), then got a new CPU (333mhz Celly to 1.0 Ghz Celly), then got a new case (10 bay mid tower/300watts), then I added a new HD (80GB), then I switched the mobo out for my girlfriends mobo (Asus P2b/1.0Ghz to MSI K7T Turbo/1.4Ghz T-bird).

I find it hard to determine the specific build dates for my computers. I started with one in 1995, then replaced some its parts, then bought another one in 2000, and put a lot of the parts from the first one into it, then got some extra parts and make another one in late 2001, now considering a fourth from (almost) all new stuff.

The main computer I post with is this one. The abstract of the specs is:

CPU: Dual Pentium 3 667 @ 690 (one died, and I don't plan to replace it)
Mobo: MSI 694D Pro-AR
RAM: 1.7 gigs of Samsung PC133
Video: Cardexpert GeForce3 PowerPack (original NVidia GF3)
Soundcard: Yamaha YMF724
Optical drives: Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32A, Teac 12x CD-ROM
Hard drives: Western Digital 40 GB 7200 and 13 GB 5400
Floppy: IBM (I think)
Case: Enlight tower
PSU: Generic (label says "Topower") 330W
Operating System: Linux From Scratch 3.2 (kernel 2.4.18, glibc 2.2.5)
Monitor: Elements 19" CRT
Speakers: Generic desktop speakers and headphones

I really want to get a nice dual athlon mobo for this thing. Please help me realize my dream by clicking the "For Sale" link in my sig :D

Built myself.

I haven't bought a computer in several years.
I just upgrade piecewise as needed, like most others here I'm sure.

Christ Viper, that's a friggin insane rig! 'Cept your HD is still a little POS :p Twice as big as mine, but still a little POS. ;)

Anyway, here I go...

ECS K7S5A mobo ($125cdn at the time)
AMD Athlon (Tbird) 1333MHz 266fsb CPU
300w PS in a medium ATX case
256MB PC133 sdram (from previous system)
32MB Asus TNT2 AGP (got for ($20 shipping) free)
56k PCI modem.. $35, not in use anymore
SBLive Value $65 at the time
Yamaha sound system (2 satellites and a sub... 10w sub, 8w sats... those are the real ratings, not that BS you usually get)
15" Optiquest V55 monitor. Happy with it other than it's too small, not 100% flat. specs/performance/quality is great
20GB Quantum Fireball Plus LM - 7200rpm, 8.5ms
8x4x32x HP CDRW.. actually burnt a cd in 6 mins once :D
12x cdrom
100mbps DLink DFE-538TX network card

Built this one for my bro more recently,

ECS K7S5A (more recent revision)
300w PS and medium ATX case
512MB DDR memory
Athlon (Tbird) 1600+ CPU
100mbps D-Link NIC
17" Samsung DynaFlat I think..
Some crappy CD-ROM, no burner
64MB GeForce2 MX400 - it has problems...
40GB Maxtor HD. Was supposed to be 7200rpm fast hd and they gave us this 5400rpm POS, god damn it's so slow. :( and yes acoustic management is disabled
SBLive 5.1 and a nice sound setup, 4 satellites and a sub... 45w sub and 35w sats.. it's niiice. :D

My primary computer (at school) is one I built myself. The computer I'm on right now (at home) was built by a local shop because my parents didn't trust me to do it. However, they might let me build them a new one.
