I think Freespace 1 and Freespace 2 are both free to download now.

Freeport is an excellent setup that allows you to play FS1 in the FS2 engine.
Its probably that expensive because it was taken off most people's shelves several years ago. As time goes on, CD's get scratched, lost, broken and less copies are available. The people that havent played FS2, THE BEST space based combat sim to date, hear about it, want to play it and find its rare
Mind you, it still looks better than a chunk of games released these days and Id be tempted to buy it at $90 for a console. $90 must be around £50 which is kinda high but ok.
