Figured with your contacts, you could find out when Nvidia plans on releasing new Windows XP drivers for the 7900 and older series cards? It's been over 5 months, which is pretty pathetic.

I thought you were mistaken so I visited the Nvidia site and couldn't believe it when I saw that the last whql driver for Windows XP was released in 2006. That sucks and if I was you I would consider going elsewhere for you next video card upgrade! :(

You're not very likely to reach him via the forums. You would be better off emailing him directly.

The thing is they promised they would and they can't even manage it for Vista + G80, much less both OSes and all cards like ATi does.

nVidia's driver support since G80 was released is absolutely shocking. It's almost like they have no driver engineers anymore.

QA for their drivers has gone down the tubes. Have they released another control panel yet? I haven't been updating my drivers in fear of getting another boot blue screen.

Ive been patiently waiting for some SLI WHQL 7 Series drivers for Vista 64, but I cant fault Nvidia for not getting them out. Its not like they have 1 guy writing drivers total and they gave him a vacation, coding has no guaranteed time frames ever.

Is this just a case of people wanting to update drivers out of habit? Or is there a genuine need? I very rarely find that I need to update drivers, hell, I'm still using 66.93's in my dads PC for a 6600GT, and have not budged from the 91.45's on my 7900. Yet somehow people seem to feel hard done by if a new driver hasn't appeared to solve generally non-existing problems. I'm not suggesting this is such a situation, but merely venting my thoughts about the usual kind of posts I see that just seem to be moany people moaning for the sake of it.

dude, 5 months for a video card is a $hitload of time. many many games have been released over the past 5 months, nvidia should be doing optimizations or bugs for those games instead of just sitting back and watching the parade especially when their competitor is releasing em on a monthly basis.

and this is why no competition is extremely bad in this market. I can almost gurantee once ati becomes competive again the driver support will skyrocket. Why do you think windows is so bad? same reason, gates has no competition so there's no point in making windows polished.
