<< Dude, my grandma can pitch a no-hitter against Devil Rays. >>

Ummmm, no one ever pitched one against the Devil Rays in their five years of existance untill last night. And it's not because they were "better" than they are now, it's because no-hitters are one of the hardest things to do in pro sports.

<< How about when Mussina came one pitch from perfect game against your beloved Red Sox. >>

How about when Ted Lilly went into the eigth with a nono last night? And wound up LOSING? Shades of Andy Hawkins if anyone remembers that.

Oh, before I forget Beantown.....nine-teen-eight-teen! nine-teen-eight-teen! nine-teen-eight-teen!

I still think perfect game is much more harder than a no hitter. In no hitter, if you fall behind the batter you can just go a head and walk him. You can asl walk good hitter, and pitch to the other. Anyone remember Florida's A.J. Burnetts no hitter last year? When he walked 9 batters and hit 1? Also, in a perfect game you need help of your teammates, since first of all they have to score for you, and secondly they can't afford any errors on the field.

That's why I don't really think no no is a big accomplishment (there are usually 2 or 3 of those every year), while a pefect game is indeed baseball importality.

While it's true a perfect game is much more difficult, and much more important, that doesn't take away from the accomplishment of a no hitter! A perfect game is just a bigger accomplishment.

If you read the story you will see that he only had ONE BASE RUNNER the whole game and that came in the 3rd inning. That's pretty damn near close to a perfect game, obviously it's not a perfect game and having that one base runner probably calmed him a bit knowing that he can't get a perfect game. Anyway, the only reason to downplay this accomplishment is if you don't like the Red Sox or don't like the Red Sox fans.
Whatever way you want to see it, it's still pretty f'in sweet. I think I'll go pray to my anti-Yankees altar and enjoy the rest of the season.
