HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - A sheriff's deputy who is accused of going topless at a campground has been fired and charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Dawn Rene Roberson, 38, of Royal, was fired Wednesday after she turned herself in on the misdemeanor charges.

According to incident reports, a marine patrol deputy and a park ranger told a topless Roberson to cover up in separate encounters Sunday.

Later, authorities received a complaint that a woman without a top was in view of children.

One report said a grandmother complained that the topless woman became "loud and disorderly" after she told the woman to cover up. Another camper told authorities the woman became belligerent when confronted.

In both instances, the topless woman said she was a law officer, according to the reports.

The next day, one of the people who complained identified Roberson in a photo of members of the jail staff, officials said.

A July 18 court appearance was set for Roberson. She could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine on the exposure charge and up to 30 days in jail and a $100 fine on the disorderly conduct charge.

Indecent exposure is a stupid crime when applied to the wrong people.

That said, she is not the wrong people. I applaud them for firing her. Nobody wants to see that.

At the moment I'd say you wouldn't have a problem with it since there really isn't anyone left living there last I heard. Could be wrong tho.

In a more serious tone, some poeple in this world need to maintain a no-nonsence image. That includes people like police officers, judges and so on. This would primarily be important in professions which require enforcement. Otherwise people just won't respect you. Its their fault though, but we cannot help that.

Looked like she had been told more than once to cover up but she didn't. I dont mind about topless but around old folks and kids are no no.

BTW, she really is a jailer, or was.

Going topless is legal here in Oregon as well.

Unfortunately the ones you WANT to see go topless don't and the ones you really DON'T want to see do... :(

There are lots of things we don't WANT to see, but we don't think people should be fined or arrested for showing them to us.

I'd rather not look at 5000 billboards and advertisements alongside the freeway every day, but I'm not saying that people should be arrested for showing them to me.

Fact is, you don't get much of a say in what you want to see.
