No big deal. As long as the deputies are charged with murder.

"It's just a bizarre set of circumstances. The bottom line is, you point a gun at a deputy sheriff or police office, you're going to get shot," Herrell said.

If someone was banging/kicking my door in in the middle of the night, they'd be met with a gun. Of course, I am not a crook so I am not expecting the cops.

This is why civilians shouldn't have guns.

I know you're trolling, but...

You know, throughout the course of history, the military has killed a lot more people with their guns than us civilians have with ours. Maybe we should change the balance of who gets "military grade" weapons.

If the man was being robbed, he should call the police and wait. His local police have already proven themselves to be capable of handling any threat in a swift and decisive manner.

no need to bother with identifying yourselves as LEOs. that would just be stupid. :\

There are no knock warrants which allows the law to barge in. The obvious problem is that such warrants may be too easy to get or that the review procedures are flimsy. Also such a law is at odds with the castle doctrine.

Too bad he didn't take some cops down with him.

Maybe it would have provided police more incentive to announce their presence in the future.

I don't understand why the occupant opened the door at all when he didn't know who was banging on his door at 1:30am. Not that I am faulting him, it should always be the police's job to announce themselves.

Why confront a cop with a gun, when reaching for a cell phone will get you shot equally fast. Maybe we can't blame George Zimmerman type cops for being paranoid, but no knock warrants make the American people paranoid.

Its a lovely combination, paranoia plus parania leads to insane results. Its the American way. Shoot first, ask questions later. And be sure to stand your ground, after all it so worked for an innocent man defending his castle.
