hey.. my sis-in-law is an interior designer and was using zip disks till her drive got spoilt.. was wondering if there is any media ( not cds/dvds coz they could get scratched ) which is as dependable if not better than ZIP drives ??

she'd need 250 mb storage space

thanks

Borrow one. Buy a used one off ebay. I think I have a used one if you want to PM me.

I would consider a cartridge type DVD-RAM drive for backup. The cartridge would protect the media. You could pick up a cartridge-type drive such as this :

and put it into an external usb/firewire enclosure. Disks are $8 - $10 each, but that's a bargain considering that she would probably be spending $30 or more for each 256mb thumb drive.

I second that I would go to 512 just to be sure (I'm not sure what 256MB is formatted) and anyway the prices are cheap now. And yes they are very dependable and fast...no moving parts so don't wory about motion...

yes they are really good, i've had my 512 for about 6 months. still works fine never had a problem. keep it on my keychain and its been through some rough crap in my pocket

$38 512MB

I carry mine in my pocket. Forget to take it out sometimes.
It's been through the washer and dryer at least a dozen times.

Still works like a charm.
Try THAT with a Zip.
