Depeche Mode

Does anyone else like them?

I recently started listening to one of their live albums, and have been playing "Enjoy the Silence" for 3 days straight now.

If they ever go on tour again, I'll be there... 🙂

Depeche Mode rocks. I love their old 80's synthpoppy albums like Music For The Masses and Some Great Reward. 😀

I love Depeche Mode. I hear that the lead singer is doing some stuff on his
own, but I haven't heard any of it yet.

Depeche Mode and Enigma are two of my favorites.

Enjoy the Silence is like one of the best [insert category here?] tracks I've ever heard!!! I remember they used to play the video non-stop on MuchMusic...it was weird...some king walkin around the world, carrying his throne with him everywhere he went and pausing only a few minutes to sit down and take in the scenery before moving on again...

Personal Jebus is a fun track too...

Yeah, Dave Gahan is now touring promoting his solo effort. Apparently he's upset that he doesn't play a larger role in writing music for Depeche Mode. (Martin Gore writes most of the material). I've seen them twice now; Exciter Tour and once in 98 I think when they had their two compilations out. They are quite good. My favorite song: Black Celebration.

yes
personal jesus
just found the cd's in a used music store last month
don't know where my cassettes are (from back in the day)

late 80's techno-pop still sounds pretty good.

you're probably listening to Songs of Faith and Devotion Live. If you like it, check out 101, one of my faviorite albums back in high school. They went downhill fast after violator and Alan Wilder left, and Dave Gahan turned into a drugged out wanna be rocker. They still have some rabid fans out there.

Erasure's "The Innocents" is also really good if you're in the mood for gay-techno-pop (sounds great on a good car stereo cranked up).

Gah... how jealous am I? I haven't heard "Black Celebration" yet...

Thank you for the tips! I'm still kinda new re: the history of the band... guess I've never really learned to appreciate them until now. 🙂

Black Celebration is one of their older songs, circa '83 or so... And they played it in the encore last time I saw them😀😎

Whoa!

Depeche Mode is my favorite band of all times. I've been a fan since '87, with "Music for The Masses"... and they are probably one of the most influential new-wave/synth-pop bands ever. Many of today's electronica artists are paying tribute to them. They were in the "Thank You" liner notes of Prodigy's"Music For The Jilted Generation", for instance.

The band is not well-known in North America (Americans prefer guitars), but it has a huge following in Europe...

... and BTW, "Black Celebration" is 1986 🙂

I listened to one of their songs on the Scorpion King soundtrack. I like they way they sound 🙂

Check out Dead Can Dance.

Whoa! They're my favorite band. My last concert was at the Staples center about 2 years ago.
Blasphemous Rumours - best song eVar!

Damn, those shows were two years ago! Yes, Blasphemous Rumours is a great song!

Depeche Mode is pretty much my favorite band. My favorites are Enjoy the Silence, Never Let me Down Again, Policy of Truth, Blasphemous Rumours and Strangelove.
