Depeche Mode: Radiohead of the 80's? Whatcha think?

I mean in terms of melancholy songs and whatnot.

i get in the same mood when i hear DM and RH.

or am i just a little too tired right now?
 
The fact that you call DM the "Radiohead of the 80's" shows how bad you are at analyzing music.

EDIT: sorry for sounding so rough...but I grew up on DM and having someone say that is pretty unexpected

Depeche Mode is an influence for a lot of modern rock beyond just radiohead. Radiohead is more like the Depeche Mode of the 90's and 2000's, not vice versa.

edit: although that actually wouldn't be giving enough credit to depeche mode, since radiohead hasnt inspired any good bands, only coldplay. Depeche Mode inspired quite a few good bands, like radiohead, smashing pumpkins and deftones, just to name a few.
