So yeah, moving to Denver within the next month, so I'll need...you know...a place to live.
I'm thinking that my price range is going to be under $500 preferably for a one-bedroom apt. There's tons that show up on rent.com and apartmentguide.com, so I don't think that finding one will be a problem.
What I'm trying to find out is:
1) What are some scuzzy places I want to avoid in terms of crime and crappy people? Areas? Specific Apts?
2) Any shady landlords I should avoid?
3) What are some of the nicer spots in the Denver area? (I'm not talking high society areas to live...I mean proximity to parks, entertainment, good atmosphere, etc...)
4) What are utilities running you on average? (Considering small TV, modest stereo system, laptop, modest use of stove/oven, etc...)
I've heard decent things about Aurora and Golden (I think). I'll be working primarily at the Ocean Journey Aquarium on 700 Water St. (and may have to get a 2nd job anyway), so of course, I'd like to keep the commute as small as possible, but I'd sacrifice that (to a degree) to live in a nicer place/area. I've heard traffic in the area sucks, but I can't possibly imagine that it's worse than where I am now (Orlando).
Any recommendations/suggestions/advice/info is helpful. Thanks!
