Didn't we just get a new police chief (I think this is in Aurora.)

Hello Police Chief, guess what, your cops just killed a 16-year old girl.

-John
Yeah, Robert White is the Denver guy, the one that Aurora just picked up I think is from Seattle and comes with some negative baggage (claims not convictions). I've seen 2 interviews with Robert White on the local news, one went fine, the other which I'm failing to find right now (damn it) did not go well at all, it referred to the guy who was beat up in the police station who just collected 2 or 3 million just a few months ago. He was far more interested in protecting his gang than he was at all serving the public.. maybe that is true or maybe it's not but it was sure what was projected in my opinion.

Honestly those cop cams just cannot come fast enough, I think in BOTH cases it will be a blessing. I just hope in controversial cases the cams don't always end up with a "dead battery" or something.

Oh, Bullshit.

This is a 16 year old girl, and she may have done wrong things, but one thing I am pretty sure about, is that she didn't want to run over a cop.

You, mother-fucking cops, over-reacted, and killed a 16 year old girl.

-John
Yeah! They should have asked for ID to make sure she was 18 or older and she should've run over 8 cops before anyone did anything about it! Damn those pigs!

A little respect. Who was she hurting, sitting in an ally, with a little doobie brothers, and her friends?

The cops escalated this, the cops want to escalate these things, and call automobiles, deadly weapons.

This is the police state. This is what they do. Kill people.

Right.. the car doesn't even show a crumple on the hood from hitting the brick and it didn't even make it through a SLAT WOOD FENCE it bumped up against either. I could crash through that fence on a huffy bicycle. From the looks of it that is the sign of an automatic transmission with the foot coming off the brakes is all. No way the gas pedal had a foot on it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure "bloodthirsty" is a prerequisite of the job, I like to group people based on the actions of a few individuals.

Who was she hurting? Nobody. So...what does that mean, we just let her hang out with her friends in a stolen car? She was approached, and reacted like a moron, which lead to a chain of events in which she injured a law enforcement officer, and lost her life.

Piss poor decisions lead to poor results. In this scenario she lost her life because she was an idiot. I really can't see a difference between this and someone who thought it would be a good idea to try to make a home made pipe bomb blow and have it blow up in their face. Darwinism people. Stop feeling sorry for idiots.

This lowers the "acceptable shoot zone" to almost insignificance.

There was no direct threat on an officer, other than a lumbering, 3,000 pound vehicle, starting from 0 miles per hour.

Your cops may have freaked out, and shot and killed, and that is the problem.

I guess you haven't noticed, but your fellow right wingers have been cheering the arrival of the police state for some time now. In the name of freedom, of course.

Nobody likes the police. Government, and philosophies like Communism, Socialism, Fascism, use the police to terrorize normal people.

Right Wingers, are looking for Freedom. Individual Rights. Less Government.

Less police.

The most unbelievable part of this story to me is that a police officer was actually checking out a stolen car...

Also, body cams need to become standard.

Not in this thread they're not. Or in any other thread anywhere on the whole Internet where the discussion is about the latest police killing du jour.

Don't confuse the libertarian right with the authoritarian right these assholes represent. They have no real understanding of internalized morality and fear any free society that isn't controlled by repression. These are the fools who only wake up when it's there turn in the ovens. The Grand Inquisitioner always imagines that he is safe.

Really? You're going to pin the police state on "right wingers"? Who keeps passing more and more laws and constructing an ever larger bureaucracy? What's the point of having millions of laws that the "left wingers" insist we need if there's no enforcement?

Both sides want a police state, because a police state is control. The left and right both want control.

You need to have this 'both sides want the police state' conversation with Zorkorist, not with me.

The authoritarian left wants a police state, not the libertarian left.

People attempting to put this on the police are idiots, like normal. The simple fact is, if she hadn't been driving a stolen vehicle, hadn't of struck the officer, she would be alive. All you have to do is take the fucking ticket or arrest, and go on about your life. These instances where someone loses their life by not following simple instructions is just dumb.

Could you cite the law for us that states that the penalty for 'being dumb' is summary execution?

There is none and there should not be any.

However, being dumb is not an excuse for ones actions and the responsibility/consequences of those actions

Sure it is.

The innocent flower didn't know she shouldn't run over a police officer while high while driving a stolen car. Nobody told her! She is a victim!

Cars are deadly weapons when being aimed at people. Cops have a right to defend themselves and I would extend the same to any citizen who some idiot is trying to run down. This isn't a hard call.
This has always been true.
