You, sir, would be the first that I was made aware of (Assuming you are a Denver native, anyway.).

Colorado is getting flooded with outsiders. Californians seem to be the biggest offenders for whatever reason. Some folk from Kansas also find a way out of that hole and move west. There's a lot of Denver folk who aren't natives.

It will always be "Mile High" without anything proceeding it to any fan.

For clarification in some conversations, you say "old" mile high or "new" mile high, and thats it.

I thought it was called "The 'phragm" now.

I dont know why companies spend money to get their name on a stadium as if that is some kind of good advertising. All it does is piss people off. It doesnt make them want to shop or buy your product. Get over it already companies.

Brand recognition and name exposure. Not everyone that watches/goes to a game is a rabid sports fan that hates corporate labels. I'd say it has little to no detrimental effect in the grand scheme of things and provides the company massive amounts of brand exposure.

We have "University of Phoenix Stadium". Nothing like naming your shining new stadium after a worthless degree mill.

The more ironic thing about that is, the Cardinals BITCHED since they moved to the valley about having to play in a college stadium and not their own.

*edit*

whoops only made it to zin before I saw this lol

The funniest thing about that is they were so desperate to get a new stadium so they didn't have to play in a college stadium on a college campus. Then they name their new stadium after a college. *facepalm*

Then again, they always said if they had their own home that the team would change. At least for one year, we were within 2 minutes of a championship. God what an awesome year!

You think pro sports are special? They are nothing more than entertainment designed to sell advertising.

Because of the added revenue that came with the new stadium...and Bidwell knew he had to spend a bit more money than he was used to to have any hope of appeasing the fans that jumped on the bandwagon. I remember going to games at Sun Devil and the crowd was more than 50% for the visiting team numerous times throughout the year.

I don't think things will change much for the Cards (or Raiders for that matter) until they both get new ownership.

I say this light-heartedly, but it's BidwIll! lol

I think that times are a changing for the Cards. Ever since Michael (Bill's son) has taken over the day to day operations, you can see the changes being made. They are a little more willing to spend money on players and actually take chances that they would not have made 10, hell even 5, years ago. Shit you could look at this off-season and the moves they've made and go WTF? The Cardinals? Really???

I agree things will not change until he is no longer the owner but at least he is not Al Davis-Bat-Shit-Crazy!

Bidwill...that's right. lol. Haven't lived there for a few years. :p

I agree that Michael is a bit more willing to spend...but I think the old man still ties his hands on a lot of things. It's better, but until Bill dies I don't have much faith in them. Going after Kolb was different for them, but I'm not quite sold on Kolb being the second coming. He's hardly played and when he has didn't look all that spectacular overall. They better hope he plays well. I don't think Cards fans are going to accept anything like the debacle of last year again.

I have never heard a football fan say they were going to Invesco Field to watch the Broncos. It's always referred to as Mile High. Nobody's going to say Sports Authority either because that sounds just as stupid.

At least they didn't name if after Dick's Sporting Goods. That's who bought the rights to the soccer stadium out in the middle of nowhere on the site of a former mustard gas factory. That stadium is always concerned that no one refers to it as the "Big Dick".

In SoCal, Dick's bought out another chain named Chick's. I wish I could say I was making this up but I'm not.
