Dentists seem like such greedy con-men. They guilt you into thinking you have problems that you don't actually have to buy stuff that you don't need. They charge so much for doing so little. They act completely detached like what they're doing doesn't matter even though it directly affects my health and my money. They act like they have authority over you even though you are the one paying them. I have yet to meet a qualified, competent dentist.

Well, I've met a number of competent ones but, I agree with the greedy part. I can call any of my doctors and get in to see them in a week or two at the most. Try doing that with a dentist. I particularly dislike the cleaning scam. That's where you have to go for multi cleaning sessions before the dentist will even begin to address the problem you went in for.

I only really got screwed by a dentist once. The dentist recommended TMJ screening. I consented to the test. Then I found out what the test procedure actually was and out of misplaced politeness had to suppress duck vocalizations. A fool and his money...

Find one that's honest. Been going to mine for 2 years since I started getting insurance again. Just clean my teeth, tell me they look great and have no cavities and they'll call in 6 months.

Hint, I scrolled through the dental insurance website until I found one with a white last name.

:hmm:

Not sure if serious...

I actually just started using a new dentist before the end of last year and he's easily the best one I've been to so far. Sure I dropped $500 for a root canal but I knew I needed it after a filling from a few years ago fell out. It took the guy 3 visits and about 8 hours of working on the very back top left molar where the root canal was needed so IMO he earned his paycheck on that one.

I had a tooth ache and went to a new dentist. He told me I needed a root canal, but I wanted him to pull the fucking tooth. He refused and assured me that a root canal was best.

2 months later the cap came off, 2 months after that my tooth broke apart down to the gum.

1 year after that my tooth (or the nub that was left) became infected, and I experienced the most pain I have ever been in in my life. My jaw and face swelled up and I looked like a freak. Went back to the dentist and he pulled my tooth.

I hate dentists. If I want my tooth pulled, then pull the fucking tooth.
