I don't have dental coverage since my new job doesn't start for a few more weeks and I have chipped tooth. It's the second one in on the top, just the rear edge (~1-2mm long). It doesn't hurt right now at least, it just feels like an edge that isn't smooth like everything else. If I did need work done on it, about how much would it run?

I just had the same problem. I have no dental coverage.

My quotes were: 88$ from one guy, 93$ from another.

I chipped my left premolar (one of the corners). I have decided to let food smooth it out rather than going to the dentist since its a very minor chip.

Yeah, I might do that too, I just need to stop running my tongue over it, that's the only time I notice it. Good to know it is relatively inexpensive to have fixed though.

yes, you will feel like wanting to get it fixed for 1 full day. After that, you will forget mostly about it. After a week, it will be mostly rounded off. This is of course if its a minor chip. If you feel pain at any time, get it checked out immediately.

I had a bit more chip off a tooth about a year ago, and that was $150 total to fill it in, which included an x-ray to check for nerve damage.

wait til your dental coverage kicks in, go in for a routine cleaning, tell the doc it's felt a little strange. he'll file it down, maybe "fill" it, and you will be charged your insurance's discount rate. whether you actually submit it to your insurance is a different story and is up to you.

Remember that "pre-existing condition" means that you previously saw another provider for that exact condition. You must have a chart somewhere detailing your complaints.
Pre-existing does not mean you are not covered because it was there before insurance coverage started.
