I do have dental insurance through my work but it does suck as it will only pay up to $1000.
After neglecting going to the dentist for 7 yrs, I do need some work.

One of my top front tooth need extraction and it will need a bridge plus a couple of root canal....blah, blah...
This will get expensive and will exceed the $1000.

So why can't I just go out and get dental insurance to cover for some of that ??
I asked the dentist this and he told me that the only good INSURANCE is through a group as through your work and such.......
The others that you can get for $10 and such per month is just a SCAM...

He does make sense as anyone get get these so called dental insurance and have them cover for all the expensive work as in crowns and bridges
So is it possible for me as a SINGLE to find some place that I can buy Dental Insurance to help me foot some of the cost ??

I see abundance of them on the net....are they just crap that no dental place will honor them ??

No one is stupid enough to sell you insurance for pre-existing conditions. Try buying fire insurance after your house has burned down, or life insurance for a dead person.

Read the fine print for your insurance at work and you'll see a long list of work that ins't covered for the first 6 months - year that you're on the plan.

Dental discount plans are pretty much all scams, and/or limited to a very few dentists in your area.

Sorry, you've got to pay it yourself or spread out the work over a few years. And start going to the dentist for regular cleanings and check-ups.

(ed) if there is a dental school in your area, you can roll the dice and let students practice on your teeth for cheap.

Mr. Simmons knows what he's talking about.

I sell health/dental insurance and the easiest way to get full coverage dental is through a group plan at work, which you already have.
Most dental plans only cover $1000 / year, so you'll have to spread it out.

The ones that offer to pay more are not accepted by many dentists because the dentists get reimbursed by these companies for LESS than, say, Blue Cross would reimburse them. It's not profitable.

Would you insure someone who has a known problem and is going to make a claim, which will cause you to lose money because they will cancel their contract as soon as the problem is resolved?

Of course you wouldn't.

Not to mention that a new policy will have a pre-existing condition clause and a waiting period, so you might as well reach into your pocket and foot the difference instead of trying to scam other companies for your negligence.
