I'm thinking about replacing my now malfuntioning Sony str 1080 with a denon x3600 or 3700..
I'm a gamer pc/Ps4 , my Tv is the LG C9 77 7.1 speakers.
I was looking of crtuchfield and they have the 3700 for about $100 more should i just stick to the 36 and save 100? OR should i get the x 2700 since i wont be using 9.2

It depends. I don't think that the C9 supports HDR10+, or 4K/120Hz, but I'm not sure. Are there any other features that the X3700H offers over the X3600H that you want?

well the C9 does support 4k 120hz and hdr10+ is still new technology, only time will tell if it catches on like dolby vision , . like I said just replacing my old unit.. its just movies, gaming, music with 7 speakers inmy apartment living room . maybe in the future speakers in the bedroom

I hear what you are saying, but if it does catch on, will it be something that you can do without? If you really just want just a replacement, then just get the cheapest unit.

The 3700 has HDMI 2.1, which the C9 has as well. I think the extra $100 to provide the best future-proofing you can have at the moment is worth it. Even if you can't use HDR10+ because of the TV, the 3700 still gives you 4K/120 and VRR. And if HDR10+ really takes of and you decide you want it, you only have to replace the TV.

I agree with you. I think he wants to save money over future proofing though.
