just so happens I just picked up the onkyo 600 couple weeks ago...couldnt ask for more!!! I am not putting denon down at all but their products tend to be over priced and under powered. The onkyo isnt as clean though....surf around a little bit...that okyo can be had for around 400 bucks online, (got mine for 350)...and it has a learning remote, which means i point my old remote at the new one and the new one now does whatever the old one did...no exeptions!!!!

Personally, I'd probably go with the Denon. But, I got in on the $299 Onkyo pricing mistake at CC a couple of months ago. At that price, the Onkyo was the ONLY choice. It has since turned out to be a quite nice receiver.......enough power, clean enough, very musical.

the onkyo's power is overstated.

i am partial to Onkyo.. I own HK.
but Denon is good too.

Denon is the best receiver for Home Theater.

The Marantz gives the the Denon a run for its money in the musicality dept.--on the warm side of neutral.

Pioneer is also very recently starting to make some decent equipment that *may* compete with the big boys of Denon and Marantz.


Between Denon & Marantz, I'd go with the cheaper equivalent model.

I used to have an Onkyo, but I like the Denon I have now a lot better.
