Complete bullshit and here's why:
"The lawsuit was filed in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court on April 22 and asks for $4 million for each of the seven men, who live in the Boca Raton area. They are of Egyptian, Lebanese and Syrian descent and all but one are U.S. citizens, Hannah said. One owns a restaurant."
NOBODY that owns a restaurant be be caught dead in a freakin' Dennys.

Point taken, we tend to be too quick to jump to a conclusion before any in depth research or confirming the veracity of the stories posted here. Kinda reminds me of that thread where **supposedely** white girls got attacked on the basketball court, but the article was never to be found in any of the major press.Of course, it's not your bull being gored.
The point of banning guilt by association is that it could happen to any one of us. We all know someone who is guilty of something.
The automatic assumtion of guilt here is alarming, to say the least.
This means that now, ANY minority can claim a Denny's discriminated against them, and have the support of the majority, no matter how false their claim may be.
Yet they have no balls to come and deny the accusation themselves, according to the article anyway.it's pretty blatant discrimination, i can't believe they had the balls to say that to their face. up here, a fight would have broken out.

They do a very piss poor job of screening out job applicants. And this is the incident i was referring to:
http://janet.org/~ebihara/aavn/aav_dennys_incident.html
This happened in 1997. What became of it?
I think it was dismissed by the court, but headed to the appeals court or something. Dunno what happened after that. IIRC, Denny's claimed that the asian students (all international students) were trying to take advantage of denny's noteriety because of the past legal decisions that went against them. I actually knew a couple of the kids, they hardly spoke english and i highly doubt they knew enough about denny's to 'start a conspiracy'against them based on their history or whatever.
So it was tossed out of court. Evidently, it had no legal merit.
Again, there have been only a couple isolated incidents of VALIDATED cases of racism in Denny's.
It's amazing how these things take on a life of their own.
Now, because of this, any Denny's is automatically guilty of any charge of racism no matter how much, or how little merit the charges have.
Lynch mob, anyone?

Just because it was tossed out of the lower district court, doesn't mean it doesn't have merit. The lower courts can easily make mistakes. The story is that when the asian kids were tossed out, a group of white kids followed them and beat them up. The guards on duty were part of the sherrif's department and they did NOTHING to help the asian kids out. A couple of Black Syracuse University football players ran out to help the asian kids and broke up the fight, the guards then denied the black kids the right to go back to their seats inside. I tend to believe the two seperate groups (the asian kids and black kids) over denny's who claimed it was some sort of conspiracy to take advantage of their noteriety.

I just find it funny how most people reading this thread believe that Denny's is being sued. Any literate person would have read the story and known that Restaurant Collection Inc. is the one being sued. Did I mistakenly click on P&N or something![]()
I think most people DO understand that, but simply say "Denny's" because it's easier.
I know that's what I've been doing.

I disagree with you. Saying "franchise owner," or "owner" is just as easy as "Denny's."

Um, the owner came right out and called the charges false.
The employees have been gagged by the owners lawyer, and for good reason. Any laywer worth his salt will tell a defendant, especially uneducated restaurant workers, to STFU.
They'll have their say if this ever reaches court.

Pot, meet kettle.
You owe Dennys and Florida eleventy billion dollars each.

its not the 50's anymore. they were clearly discriminated based on their race. if the waiter told them to leave beacuse they were disrupting, or had bad BO, then the case would have less merit.
Nobody here is arguing that this wasn't wrong. We just have a sense of reason and see that incidents like this don't entitle you to become an overnight millionaire.
Because this scares the sh!t out of ambivalent employers and forces them to fire their stupid racist employees. This lawsuit will help stop public, anti-muslim racism. It's fine and dandy to be a racist or tell off color jokes in private, but in public it can throw you out of business. We might still have segregated businesses if it weren't for the various civil rights acts and the million dollar lawsuits that they've spawned.

Naw, Denny's is easier to type.
And everyone knows WTF I'm talking about.
Look, this isn't a legal case here in this thread. We can be a little sloppy with our terminology.
I have a T-shirt that would be perfect for you. It says, "Does "Anal Retentive" have a hyphen?
The lawyer pointed out that Denny's lost a discrimination suit in 1994. Afterward, the restaurant chain changed their policies. They now pride themselves on giving terrible service to customers of all races.

Again, I disagree with you. "owner" has 5 characters and does not require capitalization, while "Denny's" has 7 characters, one of which is punctuation, AND requires capitalization. I find it easier to blelieve that most of the posters in this thread are simply illiterate.
BTW, I found this SHOCKING EXPLANATION for this terrible misunderstanding. Apparently they ARE bin-ladens.
